I would say yes they are expensive. Short or long distances. After using for dinner on our first night, and breakfast the following morning, hubby rented a vehicle for the rest of our stay. Best decision ever. And Aruba is so very easy to move around, even better, as all vehicle are left hand drive, like the U.S. Be sure to download maps.me No wifi needed for that navigation app. Enjoy and be safe.

I am not into fishing but I stayed at the Ritz and did run along the coast all the way to the California Lighthouse. I saw people fishing along Hadicurari and Malmok Beach. It is about 1 to 1.5 miles north of the Ritz. If you drive, plenty of parking along the road and the beach. Seems to be a lot of locals between these beaches so you may get better first-hand information. Have fun!
