Is this likely to interest 2 boys (10 & 6) for a morning activity? Anything for them to do while there?

I would say no. They might have certain days where they have activities for young children. You could check into that. Try Sarasota Jungle Gardens instead.
The Historic Spanish Point attraction is not a restaurant. There is a restaurant next door to this historic sight though.

There are a few snacks and drinks available in the gift shop in the first building where you get your tickets. Ice cream bars, water, soda, that sort of thing.
