查查波亚斯位于秘鲁西北部亚马孙大区的一座城市，是查查波亚斯省和亚马孙大区的首府。该市坐落于安第斯山脉东坡，马拉尼翁河支流乌特库班巴河谷地中，平均约海拔2334米。根据2017年全国人口普查数据，该市人口为32,026人。 查查波亚斯源自当地原住民的萨查普约斯语，意思是“雾中之人”。这个名字来源于通常覆盖在城市附近乌尔科山的浓雾，尽管其他学者声称它源于艾马拉语的chacha和phuyu这两个词。 查查波亚斯地区曾是查查波亚文化的摇篮，15世纪曾受印加帝国统治。印加内战期间，该地区一直处于动荡的无政府状态，直到1535年西班牙探险家阿隆索·德·阿尔瓦拉多到来。以“拉弗龙特拉·德洛斯查查波亚斯”的名称建立了这座城市。至今仍保存下来的武器广场和鹅卵石小街道的历史可以追溯到那个时代。
