Francesco Bagnaia won a dramatic Indonesia MotoGP sprint race on Saturday, capitalising on an early crash by championship leader Jorge Martin to halve the Spaniard's lead to 12 points at the top of the standings.

The 2024 Indonesian Grand Prix Sprint served yet another twist in this year’s World Championship. Pecco Bagnaia, riding for the Ducati Lenovo Factory team won the race, but it was a sweet gift from Championship leader Jorge Martin.

Francesco Bagnaia, reigning MotoGP champion, claimed victory in the sprint at the Indonesia Grand Prix. The win, achieved in sweltering conditions, places him just 12 points behind Jorge Martin in the world championship standings after the Pramac Racing rider crashed while leading.

Bagnaia’s teammate Enea Bastianini finished second, while six-time MotoGP champion Marc Marquez of Gresini completed the podium in third.

Jorge Martin restored his advantage at the head of the 2024 MotoGP world championship standings with a dominant lights-to-flag victory in the Indonesian Grand Prix at the Mandalika Circuit. The Pramac Ducati rider was the class of the field from start-to-finish as he put the frustrations of Saturday’s sprint race crash - and his competition - firmly behind him to secure his first Sunday success since the French Grand Prix at Le Mans in May.
