A case of periorbital and eyelid edema in an eighteen-year-old student is presented as the initial manifestation of acute infectious mononucleosis occurring one week before the typical prodrome.

Mild periorbital edema has been noted as a common side effect in Phase I and II trials of this drug for the treatment of patients with chronic myelogenous leukemia and gastrointestinal stromal tumors.
