KL Rahul was batting on 22 runs off 19 balls when India skipper Rohit Sharma announced the decision to declare the second innings against Bangladesh.

Rishabh Pant revealed that India was planning for declaration after Lunch on Day 3, of the first Test against Bangladesh. Rohit Sharma told his teammates to score as many runs as possible which prompted Pant to score a brisk comeback century on his return to Test cricket after nearly two years.

India were in a strong position when they came out to bat in the second innings with a 227-run lead. However, even then the hosts went on to score almost 300 runs with their top six batters getting a chance to spend time in the middle.
