It's time for playoff baseball. The 2024 MLB postseason begins on Tuesday, Oct. 1, with all four matchups of the Wild Card Series kickstarting a five-week stretch of high-stakes baseball. And there are certainly plenty of storylines looming this October.

The 2024 MLB playoffs are finally here after the season wrapped up with a doubleheader of playoff-impacting baseball on Monday. For the third year, the 12-team postseason will kick off with an action-packed wild-card round that starts Tuesday on ESPN, featuring eight teams battling for four spots to advance to the eight-team division series.

Major League Baseball’s postseason will get underway on Tuesday, October 1 with the start of the Wild Card Series. The field for the American League is set, but the National League will need one additional day to round things out with three teams vying for two remaining spots.
