Officials say about 218,000 of the state’s 4.1 million voters were improperly recorded as having provided proof of citizenship, as required to vote in state and local elections.

Arizona election officials determined that another 120,000 voters across the state were registered as voters despite having never provided proof of citizenship. The announcement from Arizona Democratic Secretary of State Adrian Fontes marks the second time this month officials have found problems with voter registration rolls.

A new set of 120,000 Arizonans may have been impacted by a coding oversight glitch within the Motor Vehicles Division.
