Always do your own due diligence when making large purchases, even if you have to pay a little extra. You'll be surprised what you find on non "carfax" vin lookups. carfax is absolute garbage. Not sure about autocheck, but if the dealers use it, I would always use an independent paid VIN lookup service in addition to whatever the dealer claims.

You get a ton of coflicting data and a lot of those free vin check websites that really just want you to buy a full report and thus pretend to have "x" amount of records available to view for y amount. I find it's best just to run the carfax as a consumer. Like others mentioned look to buy carfax reports on eBay at a steep discount.
