2021年4月26日 · I never wanted to watch the original anime and decided to watch gou due to zeitgeist + creators saying it's a remake. It's exactly what you said. It starts of doable but at around episode 16 (i think) it becomes too clear that the whole "oh don't worry it's a remake and a good starting point" was simply the creators bullshitting everyone.

2022年7月26日 · Higurashi has a bunch of OVAs like Kira, Nekogoroshi, Outbreak, and Rei. Nekogoroshi is recommended to watch between 2006 and Kai while Rei, Kira, and Outbreak are recommended to watch between Kai and Gou. If you're super short on time and don't feel like watching any of them, Rei is sort of recommended to watch due to some of its canonical parts.

2020年11月1日 · You can definitely watch the new one on it's own. However it is a hybrid of a sequel and a retelling. Already they addressed events that were revealed in the second season of the original. My take on it is that you should at the very least watch Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni (Season 1, 2006) then Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni Kai (Season 2, 2007).

2022年3月30日 · Ultimately, if you like Higurashi, I say watch them. Without them, you are not witnessing how the story truly ends. If you are still hesitant, read Umineko first then watch Gou and Sotsu so you can see the origin story for the characters that it relates to.
