The Nanai people (Russian: нанайцы, romanized: nanaitsy) are a Tungusic people of East Asia who have traditionally lived along Heilongjiang (Amur), Songhuajiang (Sunggari) and Wusuli River (Ussuri) [3] on the Middle Amur Basin.

Nanai people live mainly in Khabarovsk Krai: in Amursky, Nanaysky, Komsomolsky, Solnechny, Khabarovsky districts, in the cities of Khabarovsk and Komsomolsk-on-Amur, as well as in Primorsky Krai and Sakhalin Oblast, Heilongjiang Province in the People's Republic of China. In China, the Nanai people are called the Hedjae (Heje) people.

As of 1989 about 11,600 Nanais resided in Khabarovsk Territory (Russian krai), chiefly in its Khabarkovsk, Nanai, and Komsomol'sk Districts (Russian raion).

The Russians formerly called them Goldi, after a Nanai clan name. According to the 2002 census, there were 12,160 Nanais in Russia.
