2008年7月31日 · I am doing some repeirs on a mobile home and the plumbing is the gray colored flexible type. I have been trying to learn more about this stuff. It is my understanding that the gray color indicates it is the older Qest brand that Shell stopped making. I need to kow more about what fittings work.

Never had a leak but I decided to replace the PB on my schedule (not when a pipe breaks). I started at the water inlet, added a PEX manifold and now I'm replacing the old PB one room at a time.

2007年11月25日 · Most of the PB fittings I've changed actually cracked, I think mostly because there was no slack left in the pipe for expansion and contraction. I have had a couple that leaked at the crimp. That is what is starting to happen in the PEX line as people that don't know any better start using it. The is a lot of movement.

Is there a certain kind of PEX that needs to be used for outside and under the mobile home...that can handle cold winters and hot summers. I live in Michigan so the seasons are brutal.

2013年2月7日 · The only time 1/2" PEX may replace a 3/4" line is if you "home run" the system. Supply "each" fixture with it's "own" 1/2" supply. Sharing a 1/2" line with other fixtures can be sketchy. If you have an existing 3/4" line, and it's run in the same matter with branches, they it must remain 3/4" or even bumped to 1"

2007年9月16日 · The same size PB, copper, CPVC, PEX and galvanized can all be connected together with QEST gray plastic compression fittings, or I suspect Shark bite fittings too. I.E. 3/4" PB to 3/4" galvanized to copper to CPVC to PEX and back to the PB. You can also get tees, valves, male and female adapters and various reducing couplers, tees etc..

I'm not sure what the official name of the material is, likely some of the pros will chime in with better information. Given the location of the leak, it may be wise to consider a professional plumber on this job. Sometimes the best thing for a DIYer to do is not DIY.
