There are more than 16,000 Toastmasters clubs in the world, and nearly that many types of timing signals. The simplest option is a set of colored cardboard cards, like the Toastmasters Timing Cards. Some clubs have literal flags, made from painted dowels and colored felt, which the timer waves wildly in the air and then displays in a wooden stand.

These backgrounds feature the Toastmasters International logo on green, yellow, and red. When you are the Timer for an online club meeting, switch between these backgrounds to indicate how much time the speaker has remaining!

Timing Cards have green, yellow and red cardboard pages which can be flipped over at appropriate times. Use in conjunction with a stop watch.
As Timer, I will time the Table Topics® speakers, formal speeches, and the evaluations. I will also alert each speaker of the time they have left, using the green, yellow, and red cards, which denote specific times remaining. Table Topics Speakers should limit their remarks to no more than 2 minutes. At 1 minute, I will raise the green card.

How to Perform the Role of Timer | Toastmasters
A Toastmaster’s Timer is the one who records and reports the time of every speech being delivered. In Toastmasters, every speaker has to speak within a given time-range. With the use of 3 coloured cue cards and a stopwatch, the Timer helps every speaker know how much time they have remaining on stage.

Operate the timing lights/cards for the International Contest as follows: Green light at five (5) minutes Yellow light at six (6) minutes Red light at seven (7) minutes Lights must stay ON, and cards held UP, until the next light/card (or the end of the speech). Do not hold a card up briefly and then put it down.
My duty is to time prepared speeches, Table Topics speeches, and Speech Evaluations during this meeting. The green card indicates "qualifying time” (show the cards as examples), the yellow card is "target time", the red card is "maximum time,” and you have 30 seconds to finish up.
