The -10 doesn't even need underwing pods (although some can take them); it has a roughly-centerline hose-and-drogue built in.

There are some issues with using drogue chutes in a commercial airliner, which would limit their effectiveness. Most commercial airliners have thrust reversers already. For it to be effective, the parachute has to be quite huge. For example, the Handley Page Victor, which had MTOW in the range of A320, had a drogue chute 48' (or 14.6m) in diameter.

Closest thing I can think of is using the probe light barely cracked on (it’s controlled by a rheostat) to cast a shadow on the drogue during NVG refueling but in a tactical environment even being that much of an emitter is unwise.

2017年1月8日 · Ex US Navy pilot here. I flew the S-3 Viking, which refueled via the probe/drogue method, as opposed to the USAF flying boom method. I can confirm that the receiving plane is below the wake turbulence of the tanker, maybe by 8–10 feet. Although, even if you should ride up into the wake, the sensation is perhaps not as violent as you might think.

On the other hand on the F-8 the AoA was critical because of the short, cable-arrested landings on the deck of the aircraft carriers.

If the only issue is the in-flight refueling system (probe/drogue), wouldn't it make more sense to buy the A model and modify the tankers. The refueling issue doesn't compare to the performance penalty (range/internal weapons) of the B model.
