I am looking to buy a home with a geothermal system that uses the HBX ZON 0600 (zoning), HBX ECO-0550 ("the brains"), and the HBX THM600 (thermostat). It's a 5 ton geothermal unit that heats the home hydronically and cools the home using forced air (HSS air handler). This is a single buffer tank system.

But now that air cooled systems have such high SEER ratings I think it's much harder to economically justify geothermal. Especially with an all-new installation.

Option 2: Lennox condenser EL16XC1-024 with air handler CBX32MV-024. I like that Bosch compressor is made by Mitsubishi. And it's a heat pump, while Lennox option is cooling only.

A Carrier or Trane air handler takes two people to pick it up.Goodman is without a doubt the worst I have personally had luck with. They simply do not hold up as well as other brands.
