The X2Go packages are already available in the Fedora repositories and probably most other Linux distributions. They should have fixed all of this for everything not using custom windows and custom controls, but it hasn't happened. Linux also has poor handling. Only Apple has got this right so far.

If vscode still doesn't work, keep the ssh connection open parallel to vscode and set the env variable DISPLAY accordingly. There is/was a bug/feature that prevented vscode to work out of the box with x11 forwarding.
