At the moment I use wood shavings which a) uses a ton of wood shavings every week, b) is not very stable for Issy (not used to having youngsters torpedo-ing around) and c) is not ideal for bedding piggies.

There is a layer of fleece on top of the cage liner. *its one layer of fleece, with one layer of matress protector sewn to the back* Mine are only about 2x4 grids, but that fits in my machine along with a 2x1 cageliner, a hamock, hidey house, teddy toy, and a towel for the ramp and a towel and fleece thing for the hidey house.

I rarely wash my liners any hotter than 40 degrees, but when the guinea pigs had a fungal problem a few years ago I did wash everything at 60 so it's nice to know that the liners can take if if necessary.
