The most fundamental thing about the Spin is that not all of its aspects are able to be perfectly explained with science and logic. For Act 2, it's simple: the hole is created because that's the power. The Spin of the nails creates the black hole (since Tusk is upgraded) that is void (since D4C can't affect the holes).
