Why are my fluorescent lights not working sometimes?
2014年4月8日 · I've seen fluorescent lights, especially in old homes, where the people say they're always replacing tubes, and it's because the fixture isn't grounded. If you're going to replace the ballast or the entire fixture consider going with an electronic ballast maybe even T8 size tubes.

The odds on you having a thermal starter, that is external to the ballast in any light bought in the last 10 years is low, really low. The odds on you having an external starter, with an inductive ballast, is just about zero, unless someone did it for a twisted joke.

2022年9月2日 · Usually if a fluorescent fixture starts acting possessed, the ballast needs to be replaced. So I second the comments, especially the ones about posting some pix. To fix, you could replace the ballast, but eventually the new one would wear out and you would have to do it again and again over the decades.
Tried replacing T8 fluorescent with T8 LED, now fixture won't work
2023年8月10日 · Nonetheless, because I've always replaced fluorescent tubes with the lights on, that's what I did with the new LED tube. It came on for 1 or 2 seconds, then went out and stayed out. Again, without reading the instructions, I removed a different (working) fluorescent tube and inserted the same LED tube. Again, it came on for 1 or 2 seconds.
