This song is based on the Aesop’s Fable THE CROW AND THE PITCHER. The concept for this story probably goes back to Roman times, as evidenced by a mosaic that appears to depict the story. Crows and rooks are smart enough to drop pebbles into a jar to make the water rise high enough to drink.
