This is a model of a forceps delivery. Before you ask, yes there are risks - just like with a C-section or unassisted unmedicated vaginal birth. It’s all about using interventions when needed, avoiding them when not, and risks/benefits/alternative discussions and consent. In trained hands, forceps and vacuum deliveries are a fantastic, safe, life-saving tool.
